Elizabeth Stevens

Ms. Stevens joined Parravano Witten in November 2010 after moving to Monterey from Washington, DC. Her practice at Parravano Witten embraces civil litigation, general business and corporate law and transactions, and estate planning and administration. Before moving to Monterey, Ms. Stevens practiced as a litigation fellow at Americans United for Separation of Church and State in Washington, DC, where she represented plaintiffs in federal-court lawsuits involving free-speech and religious-discrimination claims. Prior to her fellowship, she served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Royce Lamberth of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Ms. Stevens graduated first in her class from California Western School of Law. During law school, she interned at the local U.S. Attorney's Office and for two federal judges, and she published a law review article on the constitutional right to cross-examination. Ms. Stevens' latest academic article, discussing criminal defendants' right to cross-examine forensic analysts, will appear online in the Akron Journal of Constitutional Law and Policy in Spring 2011. She is a member of the California and District of Columbia Bars and serves on the board of the Monterey County Women Lawyers Association.

Before earning her law degree, Ms. Stevens served as a naval cryptology officer in Pensacola, Florida, and San Diego, California, deploying on USS NIMITZ in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She received her commission through the Navy's ROTC program after earning a degree in international political economy at Georgetown University.

Ms. Stevens and her husband, Sean, a Navy pilot, live in Monterey with their cat, Gavroche, who runs the household. She enjoys reading the Economist, hiking in Big Sur, and drinking pinot noir with her husband.
